Dispose of cases of senior citizens on priority: Judge

SENIOR civil judge and member secretary of the District Legal Services Authority M Vijay on Thursday said that hearing of cases of senior citizens will be given priority in courts. If possible such cases should be disposed of within a year.
Addressing the public while inaugurating a legal awareness assistance programme as part of the World Elder Abuse Prevention Awareness Day organised by various organisations in the city, he said, "The National Legal Services Authority has implemented the Senior Citizen Assistance Scheme in 2016. Four lawyers have been appointed to provide legal assistance to senior citizens at the district level. The state government has implemented the Senior Citizen Care, Maintenance and Welfare Act in 2007. Accordingly, a tribunal has been formed for each subdivision. The Assistant Commissioner is
