AMID widespread outrage over the FM (Autonomous) College student self-immolation, an assistant professor of GM University at Sambalpur was on Thursday arrested for allegedly exploiting a student under the false promise of marriage.
The teacher, Gopikant Suna, has been charged under section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Suna is an assistant professor with the School of Education. Immediately after his arrest, the university placed him under suspension.
