Drones as Tracking Tools Drones are today extensively used to track the movement of wildlife to prevent man-animal conflict, early detection of forest fires, enabling quicker response time and minimizing damage to forest ecosystems. Around 20 drones have been deployed in STR to keep a watch on poachers and prevent wildfire. Specialized drone units have been formed in the tiger reserve for the purpose. Similarly, some of the forest divisions including Keonjhar have adopted the thermal drone camera technology since 2023 to track movement of elephant herds ev
