Cracks appeared in the BJP-led Mahayuti government over its decision to implement the Hyderabad Gazette and one-clan formula for Marathas to obtain Kunbi certificates and avail benefits under the OBC category. OBC leader and minister Chhagan Bhujbal said he was seeking legal opinion on the validity of the decision.
This move has also caused significant unrest among OBC community members and leaders. They claimed that the Mahayuti gave in to pressure from Maratha protestors by letting the Maratha, a dominant and influential caste, gain entry into the OBC category in an indirect way.
