New directive prohibits bringing alcohol even from outside the area
CHIEF Minister Siddaramaiah has officially declared that the Male Mahadeshwara Hills (MM Hills) will now be completely alcohol-free. Until now, alcohol sales were restricted within the jurisdiction of the temple authority. However, the new directive prohibits bringing alcohol even from outside the area.
Chairing a meeting of the Male Mahadeshwara Temple Development Authority on Thursday, Siddaramaiah issued strict instructions to district-level and temple officials to enforce the complete prohibition of alcohol in the region.
During the meeting, the chief minister took serious note of previous resolutions from the authority's meetings not being implemented for over 1.5 years. He questioned the member secretary of the authority regarding the delay. To expedite development works and projects, the chief minister instructed the Secretary of the Public Works Department, Satyanarayan, to appoint an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) exclusively for the authority.
