The owner of a pit bull has been arrested by the Punjab Police for using the dog, known for its keen sense of smell and strong muscular build, to illegally hunt porcupines, a protected animal species.
The arrest follows the intervention of BJP MP and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi.
