No-Confidence Motion Against CMC Prez Defeated

In a major setback to JDS leaders in their hometurf Hassan, party rebel and Hassan City Municipal Council president Chandregowda defeated the no-confidence motion moved by JDS councillors on Monday.
Chandregowda has been the CMC president for the past six months and now, he retained the president post with the support of BJP and Congress councillors.
JDS councillors had decided to move a no-confidence motion against Chandregowda, following the direction by JDS leader and former minister H D Revanna when the former refused to step down from the post, urging the leaders to extend his term for a few more months.
