VARIOUS road projects in Punjab, including National Highway projects and those under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III (PMGSY-III), are unlikely to be completed in the near future due to multiple delays.
Sixteen National Highway projects worth ₹12,700 crore, executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the state PWD, have been stalled, delayed, or face termination due to land acquisition problems and delays in statutory clearances.
Similarly, the project to upgrade 64 roads and construct 38 bridges under PMGSY-III, worth ₹828.87 crore, has been scrapped due to delays in tendering and commencement of work by the state government.
