Govt given approval for Rs 2,663-cr upgradation of Brindavan Gardens

DESPITE opposition from environmentalists and farmers, the state government has given its approval for the project to upgrade Brindavan Gardens at Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam in Srirangapatna taluk into a world-class tourism attraction at a cost of Rs 2,663.74 crore under a public-private partnership (PPP).

Among the many attractions, a Penguin Zoo and Techno Park will be constructed to attract tourists. The mega project, which will develop the park on the model of an amusement park on 198 acres of land at the lower reaches of the reservoir, has been approved as per the opinion given by the Finance Department, Planning Department, Infrastructure Development, Ports and Inland Water Transport Departments and the resolution of the Cabinet.
