Dalits warn of more protest, if cops fail to arrest miscreants
April 30, 2025
|The New Indian Express Mysuru
MORE than 3,000 Dalits on Tuesday marched from Vajamangala village in Mysuru taluk to the Deputy Commissioner's office, demanding the arrest of the miscreants who defaced an Ambedkar's statue some days ago.
The activists raised slogans against the government and the police for their negligence, failure to arrest the culprits. The protest called by the Ambedkar Action Committee evoked a good response as Dalits, including women and children, from many villages falling in Varuna constituency, congregated and joined the protest march from 10 am.
Dalit activists alleged that the miscreants had disfigured Ambedkar's portrait after grand celebrations of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 and criticised the police for failing to arrest those involved in the act even after 12 days.
