ALL pet shops in the district must be registered with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Darshan H V has directed at a meeting of the District Animal Welfare Association held at the DC office on Tuesday.
Stressing the importance of animal protection, the DC instructed officials to impose a strict deadline for unregistered pet shop owners to obtain SPCA registration. Legal action will be initiated against those who fail to comply within the stipulated timeframe.
