RFO claims that the cleared area falls specifically under the Bellacchu Sacred Grove forest
The Forest department's eviction of over 800 coffee plants and numerous cardamom plants from government land in the Somwarpet region has sparked anger among local growers who are now threatening to intensify their protests.
The dispute centers on a plot cultivated by 70-year-old Naniyappa.
According to his daughter, Kaushi, her father cleared approximately three acres of paisari land (unassessed government land) in the Mukkodlu area over 35 years ago and has cultivated coffee and cardamom there ever since.
