Fishers Struggle to Unload Catch as Jetty Work Drags On

Promised to complete work by April; Rs 12 crore spent on jetty but work going on slowly

FISHERMEN in Gangolli are in troubled waters. They cannot unload their catch with the construction of 100-metre-long pile jetty remaining incomplete at the harbour.

With the jetty incomplete, boats are forced to queue and unload the catch in unstable areas and then shift it to the auction hall. Fishermen complain that the incomplete structure, instead of serving its intended purpose, has become a symbol of administrative neglect.
