Govt plans to end transfer of motor vehicle tax revenue to KIIFB to give relief to consumers
DESPITE years of criticising the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), the newly elected UDF government is learnt to have decided against winding up the institution and instead plans to overhaul its funding model by curbing its independent borrowing powers.
According to sources in the government, the move is intended to address long-standing concerns over off-budget financing and mounting public debt while retaining KIIFB as a vehicle for infrastructure development.
