EC: Will Provide Faster Voter Turnout Updates, Reduce Reporting Delays
June 04, 2025
|The New Indian Express Madurai
The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that it was introducing a technology-driven system to provide timely updates on the approximate number of votes cast, which would "significantly" reduce the time lag linked to the earlier manual reporting methods.
Under the new initiative, the presiding officer (PRO) of each polling station will be directly entering voter turnout on the new ECINET application every two hours on polling day to reduce the time lag in updating the approximate polling trends. It would be automatically aggregated at the constituency level, the EC said in a statement. The approximate voting percentage data will continue to be published every two hours.
