SC upholds election of A Raja as Devikulam MLA

IN a major relief to CPM leader A Raja, the Supreme Court on Tuesday set aside a Kerala High Court order cancelling his election from Devikulam assembly seat in Idukki district.

"The impugned judgment rendered by the High Court is set aside and the election petition stands dismissed. The appellant (A Raja) is entitled to all consequential benefits as a member of the legislative assembly for the entire period," said a two-judge bench of the top court, led by Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra.
