A SEVERE crisis looms over approximately 500 patients dependent on peritoneal dialysis at the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital, as the hospital struggles with an acute shortage of essential medical supplies.
Patients and their families are now left scrambling to procure dialysis fluids and other necessary medications from private sources due to the unavailability of supplies at the hospital's outpatient pharmacy.
The dire situation has particularly impacted patients suffering from severe conditions such as cancer, kidney ailments, and heart disease. Many critical treatments have also been suspended.
