Govindan visits 1st archbishop of Calicut Archdiocese

CPM state secretary M V Govindan on Sunday paid a visit to Archbishop Dr Varghese Chakkalakal, the first Archbishop of the newly elevated Archdiocese of Calicut.
The meeting took place at Devamatha Cathedral while Palm Sunday rituals were under way.
Minister for Public Works and Tourism Mohamed Riyas also accompanied Govindan during the visit.
The elevation follows Saturday's announcement by Pope Francis, officially raising the Calicut Diocese to the status of an archdiocese.
