IN the wake of Sunday's devastating fire at the Mofusil bus stand, the Kozhikode Corporation has announced that fire safety audits will be conducted in all commercial buildings within city limits. Mayor Beena Philip said on Monday that the incident has underscored the urgent need to assess fire safety preparedness and implement basic safety measures in shops and business establishments.
Speaking to reporters, the mayor confirmed that immediate instructions will be issued to ensure the installation of essential fire safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, even in small shops.
