Vazhoor Soman laid to rest among his people at Pambanar

The mist-covered slopes of Pambanar fell silent on Friday as Peermade MLA Vazhoor Soman was laid to rest at a site that had long held a special place in his heart — near the Martyr's Memorial of veteran AITUC and HEL union leader S K Anandan, his political companion and friend.

The mist-covered slopes of Pambanar fell silent on Friday as Peermade MLA Vazhoor Soman was laid to rest at a site that had long held a special place in his heart — near the Martyr's Memorial of veteran AITUC and HEL union leader S K Anandan, his political companion and friend. Many plantation workers and trade union leaders, including INTUC's Annadurai, were also buried here.

Fellow comrades recalled that when Anandan was buried there 15 years ago, Soman expressed a wish to rest in the same soil. "The party workers have fulfilled his wish," said Sivankutty, Congress vice-president of Upputhara mandalam, who, despite political differences, shared a deep friendship with Soman.
