Makaravilakku: Security reviewed, health facilities stepped up

A REVIEW meeting of various department officials led by Police Special Officer V Ajith was held on Sunday to assess the arrangements ahead of Makaravilakku Festival.
The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has announced plans to serve food to devotees camping at Pandithavalam and other vantage points for Makaravilakku darshan. Food will be prepared at the main mess and distributed at two temporary stalls set up at Pandithavalam. Refreshments, including biscuits, required for distribution will be delivered to the counters.
The installation of barricades at the viewpoints for Makaravilakku darshan has been completed. In view of the safety of devotees, police will carry out inspections banning pilgrims from climbing tall buildings. Strict restrictions have also been imposed on cooking.
