CPM P'thitta District Conference Urges Centre to Declare Wild Boar a Vermin

THE CPM district conference has called for various interventions in the wild animal menace, a major concern of farmers in the hilly region, including amending the relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act to address the escalating human-wildlife conflict.

As the conference enters its second day at Yechuri Nagar in Vakayar, Konni, a motion has been moved to address the issue, especially the rampant threat of wild boars destroying crops in the district.

The motion sought the Union government to declare wild boar a 'vermin', and to cull them to save the farm produce and the lives of a significant number of farmers.
