No. of PM Kisan beneficiaries dips 49% in 5 yrs

PUNJAB has witnessed the steepest fall in beneficiaries under PM-Kisan, the flagship scheme of the BJP-led NDA government, with the figure dropping by 49% over the past five years, Parliament was recently informed.
The number of beneficiaries fell from 23.01 lakh between December 2019 and March 2020, the highest-ever recorded in the state when farmers received ₹466.47 crore, to just 11.34 lakh between April and July 2025, who received ₹387.76 crore.
Responding to an unstarred question, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and farmers' welfare Ram Nath Thakur said that in the financial year 2025-26, ₹63,500 crore have been allocated for the scheme.
