In disruption of flow of goods, China will face an extra 34% tariff, totaling a massive 54%
In his latest move, US President Donald Trump has targeted industry-specific tariffs imposed by other countries on American exports, such as the European Union's ban on US poultry, Canada's dairy tariffs, and Japan's levies on rice. Trump's approach introduces "half-reciprocal" tariffs—lower than the tariffs imposed by other nations. For instance, while the EU imposes a 39% tariff on US goods, Trump has set a 20% tariff on EU imports.
One of the most significant impacts of this shift is on China. Already facing a 20% tariff due to its role in fentanyl trade, China will now face an additional 34% tariff, totaling a massive 54%.
