THE Chhattisgarh High Court has dismissed an appeal questioning the legality and propriety of a judgment that acquitted an accused booked under the offence of stalking, insulting the modesty, 'sexual assault' and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for merely saying "I Love You" to a girl publicly.

On October 14, 2019, when a 15-year-old girl was returning from school along with her two friends, the accused approached her, expressed his 'fondness' saying "I Love You XXX" (XXX denoting the name of the girl) at Kurud in Dhamtari district, about 80 km south of Raipur.
