People's representatives allege it would be a violation of NHAI rules
In response to mounting public protests against the National Highways Authority of India's (NHAI) decision to construct a temporary toll plaza at Arikkadi near Kumbla, a high-level meeting was convened at the Collectorate Conference Hall under the chairmanship of the district collector.
The people's representatives demanded that the proposal of the District Development Committee meeting be strictly implemented.
The District Development Committee, in a meeting held on May 3, asked the NHAI to abandon the move to establish a toll gate in Kumbla while the work on the first stretch of National Highway 66, Thalappady-Chengala, is in the completion stage, stating that it is a violation of NHAI rules.
