THE Centre on Tuesday opposed Kerala government's plea to withdraw its petition against governor over the delay in approving bills passed by the state assembly.
Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, said these were constitutional issues. "It cannot be filed lightly and withdrawn lightly. We are working on the issues involved," he said. The two-judge bench, comprising Justice P S Narasimha and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, after noting that the state had the right to withdraw the plea, posted the matter for further hearing to May 13.
