Puncture shop worker turns historian, nature guide, writer

The New Indian Express Kalaburagi

SIDDU Satyannavar, a youth from the historic village of Dambal in Gadag district, may run a humble puncture shop, but he is also the go-to guide for tourists seeking to explore the region's rich heritage and natural wonders.

- RAGHOTTAM KOPPAR @Gadag

Siddu is known for narrating the history of Dambal's ancient temples and the famed Japadabhavi to curious visitors. Beyond the village, he leads adventure enthusiasts deep into the lesser-known interiors of Kappatagudda, covering remote spots like Handi Bachchalu and Uppinangadi—regions few locals or forest officials venture into, and rich in biodiversity.

Siddu's journey is as remarkable as the trails he explores. While helping his father at the puncture shop from a young age, he developed a love for reading and slowly saved up money to pursue his education. His hard work paid off—he earned a Master's degree in Journalism from Dharwad University.
