Project to Plant 1 Lakh Saplings in 4 Districts of Kalyana K'taka to be Launched on June 1

SEVEN districts of the Kalyana Karnataka region are in the list of districts with less than 10 per cent forest area, and a project to plant one lakh saplings will be launched from June 1 to increase the green cover here, Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre said.
Addressing the media here on Saturday, he said that Kalaburagi—5 percent, Bellary—7 percent, Yadgir and Raichur have only 3 per cent forest areas each. Therefore, a programme to plant 1 lakh saplings, especially on the roadsides, will be launched in these four districts from June 1, he said.
