Muslims Stage Massive Protest Over Desecration of Religious Text

Demonstration reflects community's deep anguish and failure of police to arrest any accused

Thousands of members from the Muslim community staged a massive protest in Belagavi on Thursday, expressing outrage over a recent incident involving the stealing and desecration of the Holy Quran in Santibastwad on Belagavi city outskirts. The demonstration reflected the community's deep anguish and strong condemnation of the act, as well as the failure of Belagavi police to arrest any of the accused involved in the incident so far.

The protest began at Idgah Maidan, where a large number of agitators gathered holding national flags, green flags and placards with messages such as 'Blasphemy Will Not Be Tolerated' and 'Protest Against Disrespecting Our Holy Quran'. Protesters shouted slogans like "Inquilab Zindabad" and "We Want Justice," calling for action against the perpetrators.
