B'gavi mayor accused of fraud, activists demand resignation

BELAGAVI city mayor Mangesh Pawar and Corporator Jayant Jadhav provided false information to obtain commercial properties in the 'Tinnisukatte' market area. This act makes both leaders legally ineligible to hold public office under municipal law. Therefore, they must resign immediately, urged social activist Sujit Mulgund.

Addressing a joint press conference on Saturday at the Kannada Sahitya Bhavan in Belagavi, activists Raju Topannavar, Sujit Mulgund, and Nitin Bolabandi said that they had obtained evidence through the RTI Act showing that Pawar and Jadhav had deliberately submitted misleading or incomplete details regarding their assets. This misinformation, they argued, was used to secure shops from the city corporation—an act that violates eligibility norms and legal statutes.
