BCC Seizes 250 Kg of Plastic, Collects Rs 20k as Penalty During Raids

HEALTH and Environment Department of the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) conducted a raid at the city's main market area, Mense Galli, and Kalmath Road, seized 250 kg of single-use plastic and collected a fine of Rs 20,000.
The operation was led by Health Officer Dr. Sanjeev Nandre with the assistance of Assistant Executive Engineer Hanmant Kaladagi and other department inspectors. The action has caused a stir among plastic vendors in the city, since use of disposable plastic has been banned. Despite earlier crackdowns and fines imposed by the BCC, the illegal use and sale of single-use plastic persists.
