DC K Lakshmi Priya has directed Agriculture and Horticulture officials to focus on value addition of the agricultural produce and promote food processing units to help farmers maximize their profits.
She was speaking on Thursday while presiding over a progress review meeting of various Agriculture and Horticulture programmes. "The Central and state governments have implemented several schemes to ensure profitable returns for farmers. It is essential to raise awareness among farmers about these programmes."
Training sessions should be organised to educate farmers on value addition methods, and they should be informed about bank loans and subsidies available for setting up small-scale food processing enterprises," she said.
