The NH four-lane work in Bhatkal has remained incomplete for over 13 years
THE four-lane work on National Highway-66 (NH-66) in Bhatkal has remained incomplete for over 13 years, leaving the region with risks, traffic congestion and economic setbacks—issues that have worsened with the onset of monsoon. This has angered the public as well as people's representatives. Port and Fisheries Minister Mankal Vaidya has warned of massive protests at toll booths over the poor pace of the road work.
The NH-66, a crucial coastal corridor that connects Kanyakumari to Panvel via Mangaluru and Goa, continues to be a nightmare for commuters in Bhatkal. The stretch leading to Honnavar and Bhatkal has seen little progress.
