Peelamedu residents to protest against railways for subway construction delay

CONDEMNING the Salem Railway Division officials for the delay in constructing a subway and not extending the platform length to facilitate the halting of express trains at Peelamedu railway station, residents of Peelamedu and Gandhi Mangar have planned to stage a protest on September 29.
PV Gopal, president of Peelamedu Consumer Voice, which is spearheading the protest, said, "Soon after the protests by the residents of Peelamedu and Gandhimanagar, the Southern Railway started the construction work of a Rail Over Bridge (ROB) in 2011, and the work was completed and opened for the public after six years in December 2017 at an expense of ₹30 crore. In the ROB's proposal, there was a design for the construction of the subway. Yet, the lack of a subwa
