Mettupalayam Road, Trichy Road among key arterial roads impacted; civic body officials promise to address issues
OFFICIALS from the National Highways (NH) wing of the State Highways Department have raised strong concerns regarding the condition of several NH stretches in Coimbatore, attributing the damage to civic infrastructure works carried out by the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC).
In a recent meeting with the CCMC's city engineer, NH officials expressed disappointment over the lack of proper road restoration following civic projects like the underground drainage and 24/7 water supply initiatives. They noted that dug-up portions of important NH corridors, including Mettupalayam Road and Trichy Road, remain poorly repaired, posing a significant safety risk to motorists and commuters.
