LIC Beats Street Est With 5% Jump in Profit at ₹10,987 Cr on Higher Margins

LIFE Insurance Corporation (LIC) on Thursday reported a street-beating set of numbers, with net income growing by 5% to ₹10,987 crore as the national insurer has earned 5% more in new business premium.
The national insurer has also improved the margins, helping boost the bottomline in the June quarter. In the trailing 12 months period, LIC had booked ₹10,461.05 crore in net income. Net premium income for the quarter rose to ₹1,19,618.41 crore, up 4.7% year-on-year when it was ₹1,14,230.24 crore. While the key new business premium grew 4.9% to ₹60,262 crore in the reporting quarter from ₹57,441 crore a year ago, the margin from its new business jumped to 15.4% from 13.9% i
