Sonbhadra mine collapse toll rises to 7, rescue ops on as many still trapped

THE death toll in stone mine collapse in Sonbhadra district of eastern Uttar Pradesh has gone up to seven with another body being recovered from the rubble, officials said on Tuesday.
The seventh body was identified as that of Gulab Kharwar (82), a resident of Obra area of Sonbhadra. Kharwar's body was recovered on Monday evening.
Meanwhile, rescue operations are still underway at the site at Billi Markund. UP minister Sanjeev Kumar Gond and Robertsganj MP Chotelal Kharwar claimed that around a dozen workers could still be trapped under the rubble after a portion of the quarry operated by Krishna Mining Works collapsed on Saturday evening.
