US approves 31 MQ-9B drone sales to India

THE US has approved a sale of 31 MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft (drone) and related equipment to India at a cost of $3.99 billion. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has delivered the required certification notifying the Congress of this sale on Thursday.

"This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by helping to strengthen the US-India strategic relationship and to improve
the security of a major defense partner, which continues to be an important force for political stability, peace, and economic progress in the Indo-Pacific and South Asia region," the US State Department said on Thursday.
The implementation of this sale will not require the assignment of any additional US Government or contractor representatives to India.
