Dhoomimal Gallery to host a landmark printmaking exhibition. Chagall, Picasso, Goud to be on display.
THE oldest form of art is printmaking. Art, in fact, began with hand prints made by early cave dwellers nearly 24,000 years ago. As the centuries went by, there emerged many types of printmakers — woodblock printers, manuscripts illustrators, and later, photographers.
Printmakers have continued to create and innovate in new ways with every advancement in reproducible products.
Uday and Sunaina Jain of Delhi's Dhoomimal Gallery is set to showcase a unique look at how creativity can be infused into nature, through ‘Print Age’, a significant of printmaking in the era of AI. For years now, Dhoomimal has supported emerging artists through the Ravi Jain Memorial Foundation awards as well as by promoting printmaking through the exhibition. The manual craftsmanship associated with creating printed pieces has never diminished. Artists continue to invent new processes, both physically and architecturally within their medium of choice.
