Sonbhadra mine collapse death toll rises to six, rescue ops underway

THE death toll in the Sonbhadra stone mine collapse rose to six with the recovery of five more bodies from the site on early Monday morning, official sources said. The incident took place in the Billi Markundi mining area in Sonbhadra on late Saturday afternoon.

Sonbhadra mine collapse death toll rises to six, rescue ops underway

One body, trapped under the debris, was recovered on Sunday by the rescue team.

Sonbhadra DM Badrinath Singh said that the rescue operation is underway. The local sources claimed that more labourers were trapped under the debris. The deceased were identified as Santosh Yaday, Indrajit Yadav, Ravindra alias Nanak, Raju, Ramkhelawan and Kripashankar.
