'Smart' geofence-enabled wearable device developed to assure women's security

WITH the rise in crimes against women, Karan D, a final-year student from the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), has developed an 'intelligent geofence-enabled wearable system' designed to ensure real-time women's safety.
Karan showcased his smart wearable device during the Open Day 2025 held at the SJCE campus on Saturday. Speaking to this newspaper, he explained that the device offers real-time location tracking and emergency alert features. The system enhances safety by allowing users to define 'safe zones' (geofences) and receive alerts when entering or leaving these areas.
