Protecting farmers' interest is paramount, says Siddaramaiah

CHIEF Minister Siddaramaiah on Tueday reiterated that he will protect the interests of farmer who have been holding a protest over the release of Cauvery water.

The chief minister met farmers attached to the Mandya District Farmers' Welfare Committee and activists from various pro-Kannada organisations on protest for the past 56 days near Sir M Visvesvaraya statue in Mandya against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.
Addressing the protesters, Siddaramaiah said, "Protecting the interest of the farmers is more important than hanging on to the power," he said.
