The Delhi Traffic Police issued over 1,200 challans for drunk driving on Holi on Friday, marking a 47.2% increase from last year, according to official data.

Over 1.2K Challans Issued for Drunk Driving on Holi

In total, the police issued 7,230 challans this year for various traffic violations, a sharp rise from the 3,589 recorded in 2024.

To enhance road safety and ensure the well-being of pedestrians and motorists, the Delhi Traffic Police implemented extensive traffic arrangements on Holi. These measures aimed to curb dangerous driving behaviors such as drunken driving, reckless driving, zigzag driving, and triple riding, as well as violations like riding or driving without a helmet, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Chaudhary said.
