Odisha among 4 states with high lightning deaths

WITH 1.01 lakh deaths in past five decades, lightning has emerged as one of the most lethal and challenging disasters among natural hazards in the country.
Four states including Odisha accounted for 55 per cent of the deaths, found a new study. The study by researchers from three universities and the Climate Resilient ObservingSystems Promotion Council (CROPC) revealed that states like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Odisha experienced the highest rate of lightning-related fatalities.
