A 30-year-old man murdered his "best friend" by repeatedly hitting his head with a brick as the latter refused to give him money to buy alcohol, an official said on Wednesday.
Not only did the accused, Ankit Mishra, commit the murder for a petty reason, but he also stole ₹400 from the deceased friend's pocket and spent the night drinking more alcohol.
Later, to evade arrest, Mishra got himself admitted to a drug rehabilitation centre. However, the police soon caught him, with his clothes still soaked in blood.
Sharing details, Shahdara DCP Prashant Gautam said two constables were on morning patrolling duty in their beat area on October 14 when they found the body of a man lying with blood stains and subsequently made a PCR call, after which cops from Anand Vihar police station reached the spot.
