Maha caste row deepens as Shinde comes up with order, triggers uproar

THE Maharashtra government on Thursday issued a government resolution (GR) on Thursday saying the Kunbi caste certificate will be issued to those Marathas from the Marathawada region who possess preNizam-era or revenue or education documents recognising them as the Kunbis.
However, quota activist Manoj Jarange has asked the state government to drop the clause of genealogy while giving Kunbi caste certificates for availing reservation benefits under the OBC category. A former state minister met him with an appeal to end his 10-day-old fast over the issue.
