Exporters asked to come out of protectionist mindset

AMID threat of reciprocal tariff, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal has asked exporters to come out of their protectionist mindset and encouraged them to be bold and ready to deal with the world from a position of strength and self-confidence.

Allaying the concerns of the industry with regard to the US, the minister has called on the Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) to reflect on their strengths and share their demands and interests with the government for better engagement with the US.

The Donald Trump Administration in the US has announced it will levy reciprocal tariffs on Indian goods from April 2. Analysts fear most Indian exports to the US would become expensive as a result of the US government move.
