Councillors may be given ₹1 cr each from CM Fund for development work

TO strengthen financial prowess of municipal councillors, the Delhi government is considering a proposal to allocate ₹1 crore each from the Chief Minister's Development Fund.

Officials said the plan will be implemented in coordination with the Urban Development Department, marking the first time that elected members of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will directly receive funds for developmental works in their wards. The decision is being seen as a major step to address long-standing complaints from councillors who argued that the absence of funds limited their ability to deliver on public expectations.
