The Bhajan Lal Sharma-led BJP government in Rajasthan on Friday flagged off the state's first air-conditioned pilgrimage train under the Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme-2025.
Launched by the state Devasthan Department and linked to the larger campaign to boost religious tourism, the scheme aims to offer senior citizens a comfortable and spiritually enriching travel experience. This ambitious initiative found first mention in the state budget.
The "Rajasthan Vahini Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train" departed from Durgapura Railway Station at 10 am, carrying 779 senior citizens on its maiden journey to Rameswaram. Of these, 600 pilgrims are from Jaipur and 179 from Sawai Madhopur.
Chief Minister Sharma boarded a coach to greet and interact with the passengers before flagging off the train.

Men, women, and children were trampled in temples, rallies, and film events. The founder of the Srikakulam Venkateswara Temple, after nine devotees were killed in a Diwali crowd surge, dismissed the deaths as “God’s will.” It was not. It was ours.
